706.02 Rejection on Prior Art

MPEP SECTION SUMMARY

All the information pertaining to Prior Art Rejections has been put into separate sections. The main reason for this is that Prior Art is a VERY important area of Patent Law that will be heavily tested on the exam. By breaking the topics down, you will be able to concentrate on them more thoroughly.

Prior Art Rejections (see Appendix I – Prior Art Rejections)

We have created several Appendixes which cover the Prior Art material. They are listed out for your convenience here:

» Appendix I - Prior Art Rejections

» Appendix II - 35 U.S.C. 102 Rejections

» Appendix III - 35 U.S.C. 103 Rejections

» Appendix IV - Disqualify Prior Art

» Appendix V - 35 U.S.C. 112 Specification Requirements

The MPEP combines much of the material pertaining to Prior Art Rejections in Chapter 700 and Chapter 2100. This makes these two Chapters two of the longest. Instead of putting all the topics covering Prior Art in the two chapters, we've pulled that material out and arranged it into the Appendices shown above.

All the material maintains the original MPEP subject headings, but has been combined together in an easier to understand manner. Please make sure you dedicated time to these Appendices as these topics are very heavily tested on the exam.
