Lesson 1: Patent Types

There are 3 main types of patents; utility, design, and plant patents. In this video, you'll learn about the different types of patents and the inventions they may cover.

Lesson 2: Parent Applications

The goal of this video is to explain the two different types of parent applications; which are the provisional and nonprovisional applications. You'll learn what each of them accomplishes and the differences between provisional and nonprovisional applications.

Lesson 3: Reissues

Reissues may be used when the claims or specification of the original patent are not quite right due to an error made without any deceptive intention. In this video, you'll learn about reissue applications including why and when they are used.

Continuing applications are a second application for the same invention claimed in a prior nonprovisional application. The goal of this video is to learn what a continuing application is and when to use it.
