Terms for specific patents:
- For utility and plant patents filed after 6/8/95, the term ends 20 years from the date the patent application was filed.
- Design patents end after 15 years:
- The term begins on the date the patent issues.
- Continued prosecution applications will have the same application number and filing date of the parent.
- In reissues, the term is the unexpired part of the parent.
