2nd Paragraph
The 2nd paragraph of 35 U.S.C. 112 states that the specification must include one or more claims. These claims must point out the subject matter that the inventor regards as his or her invention. In addition, the claims must be distinct and definite. So, instead of saying "relatively shallow", a more specific definition like "between 2-10 meters" or even "about 5 meters" must be used.
The scope of the claims must be clear and obvious so the boundaries of the claims are set and easy to understand. Remember, the claims will determine whether or not infringement actually occurred if it is ever questioned during the life of the patent. Therefore, the claims must not be ambiguous.
